Rattling/banging pipes

Hi there,

Whenever we turn a cold water tap off you can hear the taps rattle and make some water gushing kind of noise, this never used to happen before, it seems to be getting worse, the last time I used a tap I could hear a terrible banging noise.

Could anyone tell me why this is happening?

Mains pressure changed, pipes come unclipped, loose jumpers in taps.

All sorts of possibilities!

What do you mean by that?


As far as I'm aware there hasn't been any change in the pressure of the mains.

sounds like water hammer, caused by sudden pressure changes within the pipework resulting in sound waves - maybe worth looking into some type of air trap to add to the pipework to add as a damper
