Hi there can someone please help why does my RCD incomer ?? Keep tripping on a regular bases sometimes it will go for months then it can go 3 or four times a day ( does it need replacing).
It trips because it is doing its job. It is detecting an earth leak higher than it will allow.
This may be caused by all sort of influences. Water ingress, faulty heating valve/pump/etc, outside electrics, mice chewing cables.
Lots of electrical items also have a small amount of earth leakage, and it may take several of these things together to add up to enough to trip the RCD. Keep an eye on what is being used when it trips (that's called a clue).
You can spend months guessing as to the cause. the best way is to get an experienced electrician to track down, and sort out, the cause.
PS One of the tests he will do is to check if the RCD is working within spec. But in my experience at least 95% of the issues are not a faulty RCD.
