If it were a linear relationship then 10mm would be 4 x 24 (96amp) but it isn't.

There was a post on here a while ago that went into what the relationship was, cant remember it, but its due to the fact that while the 10mm has got 4 times the copper of the 2.5 its surface area is not 4x times that of the 10mm, so while the thermal energy generated in a 10mm carrying 96A will be the same as a 4 2.5mm each carrying 24A, its ability to shed that heat into the air is not the same. Try correcting the 24A for 4 cables tightly grouped and then multiply it by 4 and see if thats anywhere nearer the rating of 10mm
