Can a dodgy cpc knock out the whole CU (all rcd protected) even when all CBs are turned off?
And to remedy this point, do you think i should just take each individual earthwire out to root out problem?

N-E fault can only be isolated by removing earth or neutral

Cheers andy, it probably looks like one of my earths fell out when connecting, sort it 1st thing tomoz

also, taking each earth out individually to find it isnt the answer. why? because the fault current might be goin elsewhere (perhaps to 'earth') you should remove the neutrals

Be very careful removing neutrals! If they are removed then there is no load on the circuit and the neutral will then be at mains potential. BEWARE
