Getting the builders in to do a job and need to refit carpet.
I've looked at the videos on utube.

Is it fairly straight forward as on the videos, or is there something I should be careful of like pulling the carpet too tightly?

the back of the carpet isn't woven fabric. it's a felt type of backing.

Felt back carpets should technically be fitted to a specialist gripper that has a felt top, not nails. It is possible to fit to pinned gripper, but you won't really need to stretch it, just get enough hold and purchase on the gripper to stop it moving and lifting. stretch fitting a secondary backed, Wilton or Axminster carpet is a whole other ball game.
