re-fitting double glazed units to a large 3 pane UPVC window

Hello,
we bought a 3 pane window off ebay. The centre pane is an opening window. The 2 outer panes had the double glazed units removed to allow fitting the window frame to the new brickwork. We have all the parts and seals.

The seals for the front of the window ar e roughly tri-angular in cross section with a green hard bit of plastic moulded into the rubber. We tried fitting the window with the outer seals held loosely in place by a bit of 'sticky stuff' - the green plastic part of the seal was towards the glass of the double glazed unit. When we came to fit the inner seals and plastic mouldings we could not fit them as the glass was not letting the plastic moulding of the inner seal get under the lip, which then allows it to click in.

Our question is simple - which way round should the outer seals go - and how do you hold them in place while you fit the double glazed unit.

You have what is known as 'wedge gasket', this is normally found on externally glazed windows with the gasket on the inside and is used to force the glass unit outwards and to lock the beads into place.

Anyway, as you have the opposite (for some reason), the gasket goes in last. First fit the unit, clip the beads in, go outside and push the glass inwards, in the gap clip the rubber in but the curved side goes against the glass, the green plastic strip goes against the pvc. The plastic strip is there to stop expansion and contraction. Heres some pics to show what i mean about the curved side.....
