Hi all

I have some oak chairs that have become loose at the joints. What would be the best glue to use to rejoin them. Also would it be advisable to strap them while glue is drying?

thanks in advance

wood glue. Easy way to hold everything tight is with rope and tighten by rotating a stick in the rope to pull it all together.

don't forget to remove any old glue first. PVA wood glue would be fine. Yes, strap up whilst the glue is drying.

Put the chair on the floor and sit on it (or strap it down to the workbench) so that all the legs are firmly pressing down and all the joints are square. Joints have a little movement in them, and if it is slightly askew, the glue will harden and hold the joints like that, and it will always wobble.

Thanks for the tip :)

I use D4 and holds extremely well, doesn't dry in an instant and excess can be wiped off with damp cloth.
