We have an old wood oven in our kitchen and I have removed all the (for want of a better description) firebricks from the firebox. It was about 40% firebrick and the rest was made up of cement mortar, paving stones and roof tiles. Inventive. It fell apart. There is a lot of tricky cutting around the inside of the door so I have to fix everything in place with fire cement What I've been trying to find out is, do I have to have fire cement between the bricks and the metal lining of the firebox. I had to scrape some fire cement off, but it was only on one side. Anyone out there tackled anything like this before? Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Hope you all have a great year ... Kev
