managed to get it off. used a pipe slice to score it and then a pump wrench to twist it off.
the new full bore service valves dont have any directional marks on them. i guess this means they work equally well either way around?

Reusing olives is fine. Clean it up a bit and put a smear of jointing compound (Boss White) on it as a bit of insurance.
If it leaks, you'll have to think again. I bet it won't.
