Ready mixed plaster

I have recently removed a dividing wall in my kitchen and have had to patch in plaster board (white side out). I have lined the joins with self adhesive skrim and am about to skim with plaster. In the past my plastering has'nt been up to much, I can never seem to get the mix right.
I am contenplating using a ready mixed plaster.
My question is "is it any good"?
