Sorry in advance for being one of those posters.

Over the winter the walls on one side of my house started cracking. It was spreading quite fast.

We got two companies out to quote. Both documented the amount of wall that would have to be removed. One of the companies stated the work would need to be split over two days to do it correctly. The other didn't mention timescale. We went with the company that didn't mention timescale and hadn't clarified how long the job would take.

Two guys came out today and had the job complete in an hour. They didn't remove anywhere near the amount of wall that both companies predicted would be required.

The work looks slap dash to me. The repairs aren't flush, there is obvious slitting saw marks left and the repair looks saggy already. It's too heavy and bulging at the bottom.

They haven't repaired parts the person quoted said needed done and have left obvious cracks that the person quoting said would have to be cut out.

Two guys took a total of 1 hour to do this. The cost of the work is nearly £700. The boss hasn't seen the work in person, but is defending the cost and his tradesmen's ability to do the work correctly.

Educate me on the process required for repair, the quality expected, and what this should have cost?

There is two small patch repairs on one corner and a larger repair. The large repair is about 2m high and 0.5m wide.

I only spoke to the boss over the phone and he was immediately on the offensive of how he "often gets people like me".

Help me not be one of "those people" and tell me if I'm being unfair or unrealistic and saying this isn't done to a skilled level or £700 worth of work.

Pictures attached.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Its a mess, the people who did this are not tradesmen.
The loose material should be removed, wall stabilised, scratchcoat then topcoat and dashed next day.
From a scaffold.

Thanks.

I'm not being harsh or unreasonable then?

Two men taking an hour is extreme corner cutting and for £700 I should expect a good quality job?

How did you find them ?

Someone recommended them to my partner intially. Their rating on Google (4.7) and Facebook look good.

The company has been going for nearly 15 years. They've got numerous vans running around the city and have carried out significant projects. They have scaffolding and banners on projects across the city.
