Just bought a very nice recessed shower valve with fixed arm & head. Didn’t give it too much thought before buying but am now trying to work out how the hell you fix this lot into a cavity wall!
• Is it acceptable to run the pipe work up inside the wall cavity to the back of the mixer valve & shower head?
• What’s the usual method of mounting the valve - it’s 85mm deep?
• What do I support it on as it’s deeper than the blockwork? Is it acceptable to bracket off the inside face of the external brick skin?
• How do I support the fixed arm? The screwed portion behind the chrome face plate is not long enough to pass into the cavity & fix from behind, is it normal to have to extend this?
• How the hell do you get access to this lot to tighten all the pipe work, mixer valve & shower head supports?

Sorry so many questions but not having fitted a recessed unit before I expected it would be obvious on seeing it but it seems to be primarily designed to fit onto a thin panelled wall with rear access & the fitting instructions don’t give much of a clue!

You just got a nightmare in a box  there are so many like it about ..I`ve come across one .and walked away :!: ..you can`t put the pipes in the cavity  ..If you can manufacture something to hold all that lot .....you`ve invented a better mousetrap

So what do I do then, build a false, 75mm stud/ Aqua-panel wall with a built in recess for the services back to the main wall & just tile over it after install? Anyone else got any experience/ideas?
