Hi,

Im about to break up a concrete floor and pour new concrete in the bottom bay of my workshop because its not level (it used to be a animal barn).

When I'm at it I'm going to add two recesses in the floor for a scissor car lift.

The floor is going to be 150mm thick but under the recessed sections needs to be 300mm thick.

Anyone got any suggestions about how to go about doing this?

Ive laid floors thicker and a lot larger than this before but I've never had to add a recess and I can't find any information at all anywhere.

Dig your recess into sub ground 50mm bigger all round than required and 300mm below bottom of new concrete base.
Fill and level with concrete 300mm deep. Make up box to size required out of 25x150 using minimum amount of 32mm nails to hold it together. Rub some old engine oil on outside of shutter box, Place in position on the 300mm concrete already placed and pour slab
Pry out shutter board with crowbar.
Hope you are useing sub base and DPM
Regards oldun
