Having problems with creaking pipes as they have been installed very close to the floorboards. I was wondering if I cut a recess into the underside of the floorboards in order to allow more pipe space wether I woud be making the floorboards unsafe in any way.

I would be very surprised if the pipes proximity to the floorboards were to cause creaking. Is it a walking creak or are they creaking when the pipes are heating/cooling. Either way if it's not pipe related french chalk down the joint would solve a creaky joint. If they are too close to the surface of the boards the joists would have to be eased not tho flooboards.
