Hi guys

Can someone recommend some good programmable room thermostat
Boiler is a Vaillant ecotec plus 831

Was looking at the VRC430 Programmable Room Thermostat or the ecoTEC VRT360F Wireless Programmable Room Stat

Which would be the best buy?

Thanks

The VRC430 is a weather compensation controller that will optimise the efficiency of your system as well as act as a programmable thermostat. (see this description of weather compensation: http://www.viessmann.co.uk/downloads/6pp Weather comp.pdf). It needs wired connections to the boiler and to an outside temperature sensor, although it can be mounted directly in the boiler. The VRT360F is a wireless programmable room stat and only the receiver needs wiring to the boiler via a low voltage two wire connection.

So it depends if you want the advantages of the weather compensation control as opposed to the simpler installation of the wireless stat. You could use a programmable wireless stat from Honeywell, Siemens etc, but it’s probably worth using a Vaillant controller for a Vaillant boiler with its dedicated e-bus connection and extra functions.
