For some reason I always struggle to fit the Ultracom's filling loop at this end, whereas the Vaillant is a piece of pee

I can't say it's been a problem for me tbh. You'd be amazed how many installers cock it up and connect to the r/h/s ch isolation valve (instead of the l/h/s) and leave the cold mains on the **** because it don't fit properly.

I called an installer from the Vaillant website and he wanted to fit an Alpha!

Same here with 2 of them!
Could it be anything to do with big discounts on Alpha at PTS ?

Of course it is, why do you think they have to make big discounts to sell stock? Because it is of inferior quality perhaps?
