hi,i have a lot of wood to prime, undercoat and gloss.
i will also be using knotting solution as this is all new wood, picture rail and architrave.
i have a new tin of red oxide primer, can i use this.
it states on the can it can be used on wood but i have only known it to be used on metal.

thanks.

Use the knotting first while the wood is raw. There is nothing wrong with using the red oxide as a primer. Thin it down a bit first. The only thing will be that you need more coats of white to cover it later.

thanks robbie-uk, yes getting rid of the red on a final white feature could be hassle.
thanks.
