Hi all,

We're planning to redecorate our hallway (Edwardian terrace, not been looked after very well). Some things we'll get people in to do and some we're hoping to do ourselves. It'll be a learning curve as it's our first house, but what has us stumped at the moment is working out what order things need to happen in, so that's what I'm looking for advice on.

In no particular order, we are planning on doing the following:
- New front door (professionals to fit)
- Replace radiator near door with smaller one
- Strip wallpaper (us), re-skim (plasterer), paint (us)
- Do *something* about hideous artex ceiling (hoping plasterer can advise)
- New flooring on ground floor, probably laminate or tiles
- New skirting boards
- Sand stairs and first floor hallway (probably us? Tips on whether this is a bad idea for inexperienced diy-ers appreciated)
- Varnish/paint stairs and first floor hallway
- Re-paint stair rails, bannisters, etc.

My question is - if you were doing this, what order would you do things in/have them done in?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Oh, I didn't see the pictures before (maybe they weren't displaying on my phone). Your hallway looks lovely - I really like the tiles. Thanks again!

I like that you've maintained the "cat" feature.

My 1930's hallway will be next year, once all the other rooms have been done!
