You think there’s any equivalence between an embassy with a country we do masses of trade with and a brutal dictatorship that’s invaded a European country resulting in the death of a million people and created 10 million displaced citizens

We can hardly plonk an embassy in Beijing if we don't let the Chinese do the same here.

Plus, one big embassy is easier to keep watch over than a number of smaller ones.

Realistically though (with the world being online nowadays), they can spy to their heart's content from the motherland anyway.

I have a degree of sympathy: he was driven by greed (or need) but essentially UK IP/Re form have been positive about Pootin and Russia.

I think 10 years in jail is a bit excessive.
All Politicians take money in one way or another from special interest groups.

Weren't pro Israel Labour Politicians secretly filmed discussing large sums of cash with an official from the Israeli government in return for advocating for Israel, under the guise of combating antisemitism.

Theresa May did nothing about it, except say the matter was closed and the Israeli official involved had gone back to Israel.

I think Nathan Gill should appeal and get his sentence reduced.
He only got 40 grand from the Russians, that works out at 4 grand a year for every year of his sentence.
He would earn more on Universal credit .
