I have a disused water well which I would like to refurbish and use as a drinking water source. Water test results indicate it just needs sediment filter and UV treatment. Construction is concrete pipe rings which are still mechanically sound but have minor damage leading to contamination from the small area of “wetland” in which it located. Water depth is 5ft with an unknown depth of sediment under.

In this situation what is the normal approach to refurbishment ? I am not convinced that just patching the few problem holes with concrete would be enough.

Just google refurbishing a water well. Plenty of UK sites will come up.
