Hi

Currently building a single story concrete block garage 7.7m x 7.7m.

Drawings call for 225mm deep x 600mm wide strip foundations, which the Building Control Officer confirmed.

Drawings also call for light reinforcing mesh. Managed to source A193 7mm steel mesh.

Plan to shoot in 100mm of readymix concrete drop in mesh then top off with 125mm.

Is this the right place to install the mesh or should it be 50mm from the bottom ?

By how much should the strips of mesh overlap by - would 300mm be sufficient ?

Cheers.

It's only a belt and braces requirement by whoever specified it, presumably the ground is slightly changeable, so it doesn't need placing accurately - as you suggest will be fine, but I would up the laps to 450.
