We civilised and improved lots of lives in many parts of the world.

We also abolished slavery, often against the wishes of the natives from those countries who were capturing and supplying their own people to others.

I'm very sure we did lots more good than harm.

Young people today view history fundamentally differently. Rather than relying solely on top-down, state-sanctioned textbooks, they access vast amounts of alternative and primary source data.

The empire was a very good thing for lots of the people who lived in it.

This talk about "reparations" is ridiculous. If anyone owes anything, it's them to us. But we'll call it quits as we're nice.
