We are looking to convert our garage into a living space and want to move the gas meter.
We would relocate it to the wall where the current garage door is, less than 2 metres towards the external source.

I have looked online to see the best way to get it moved and depending on where you look, people on forums have paid anywhere between £200 and £1500.

Can you advise the cheapest way to get it moved through the correct channels. (We are in Middlesex)

Thanks!

You will need to ask the local transporter who are usually National Grid Transco for a quote.

Then ask a local gas reg person for a quote to connect the new meter position to the house distribution pipework.

It always amuses me when people say they are in Middlesex when the county no longer exists!

Better to put your postcode to show your location!

You may also be able to contact a 'Utility infrastructure provider' or 'UIP' to provide you with a quotation to do the work. You do not 'have' to use National Grid.

Why not go for broke and have it in a box outside, the cost of changing will be about the same and a small increase in the length of outlet will be not much extra. No worries then about being home to open the garage for the reader.
