Hi everyone.

I hope someone can help me with my latest project.

I bought this house 18 months ago and there is an exposed
Stone floor in the kitchen and utility room which I'm told is York stone but I'm not sure.

I have decided to try and get it back to its original state and seal it again but I've come up against some form of glue all over the stones. It is yellow in colour and seems to come up with a small
Chisel but this is taking hours and hours just for one stone, and I have about 200.

I've tried brick acid which gets rid of all the crud that's built up over the years but this glue type substance seems to remain even after a long scrub with a wire brush and scraper. I've tried using a stuff wire drill attachment which will take the top layer off but not much else. I've also tried nitromors which won't work.

Picture one shows what it was like and picture two is where I'm at now. There must be a product or process available to get rid of this awful stuff.

Thanks

Adam.

Have you tried heat? A heat gun might soften it enough to make it scrapeable but test a small area first to make sure it won't go up in flames if it gets too hot.

I haven't tried heat because I was worried about heat causing the stone to crack but I may be being over cautious. I'm now on my
4th application of nitromors and its slowly coming off but it's still too slow.

That residue looks like a solvent based adhesive, it seems to permeate into its stone or concrete base.

I advised someone else last night about hiring a small grinding machine from a specialist floor suppliers.
Very lightly applied, with the correct stones fitted, the grinder will shift most applications.
