Hi

As per title, trying to remove a rad to decorate the wall and skirting.

Had expected a pin I could grip with adjustable spanner but confronted with a cylindrical pin instead.

How can I isolate this rad with this type of valve? I assume this is a part of a thermostatic valve but there was no head on it when we moved in.

The other end looks like this.

Advice appreciated.

Many thanks in advance (y)

Yes ,it's a TRV with no actuator . You need to fit one ,or a decorators cap ,in order to close the valve.
The left side valve is a lockshield ,and can be closed by turning the spindle ( square ended shaft) with a spanner .

If you need to remove it today, you could always remove a trv head from another radiator (that’s not being decorated behind) and use that, assuming it’s the same type. Might need a 1/2” blank cap on it as well.
