Removed tiles, help and advise please.

i have removed some tiles in the kitchen, i want to just paint the walls

What is the best way to remove the old tile adhesive on the wall.

One of these http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=16530&ts=79803 works well if the adhesive is of the pre-mixed type. If cement based, you're gonna have to break out the heavy gear.

I just used an old chisel (and kept sharpening it). It was still hard work though!

oK HAVE REMOVED IT ALL, BUT NOW (sorry), i have some of the block work behind flaking off all dusty, should i seal this before the plasterer comes in,

And what should i use to seal it.

It can be hard to get a flat/smooth surface to paint and look good. A plasterer will usually pva the walls before using a bonding coat then skim over the top.
