In the early stages of renovating the kitchen, looking to have tiles going up from the worktop about 50cm then painted walls above that.

I've got all the old tiles off and now have removed most of the old adhesive, however I'm left with the old plaster walls which are solid, but very rough.

The parts of the wall I want to paint were papered, but once the paper came off the remaining plaster was nice and smooth, the rough bits are where all the tile adhesive came off.

What would be the best option now?

If areas are small and bordered you could stick up plasterboard for quick solution.
