Removing borders from coving

Hi all

Some advice please, previous owners have put an adhesive border up on the coving (plaster coving).

We need to remove it, but I'm conscious about throwing too much steam at it and damaging the coving.....and I've discovered song areas have two layers, can get the top later off there no probs.

Like I say any advice is most welcome. Thanks

If it is the self adhesive one careful warming with a hair dryer might help.
