Apologies for the rather graphic title!!. Ive just pruchased a new property and the previous owners owned 4 cats. Ive removed all the carpets, and have discovered that some of the flooboards absolutely stink of cat urine. Is there any way I can get rid of this, short of fitting new floorboards?

Thanks for your assistance :?

My vet told me the only way to remove the smell of cat urine is to use biological washing powder. Anything with ammonia in will exacerbate the smell, and also the smell being there encourages other cats to 'mark their territory' in that area.

I had that problem with my kittens, cos they could still smell where they'd been (even though the smell was then invisible to humans) they kept on going there (which was behind my TV on my laminate floor!) The bio washing powder seemed to do the trick. Just dissolve it a bit in water to a paste consistency and put it across the area needed and leave it on for as long as you can.
