Hi
I have ivy growing up 3 walls of my brick built porch to first floor level and the roots are looking pretty thick. I wold really like to remove it but I know it will leave a mess. Does anyone have any ideas for removing the mess that ivy leaves when you pull it down.

Use a scraper to get the woody bits of then a stiff scrubbing brush. You can't do anything about any discolouration of the brickwork though.

When i removed the ivy from my property i scraped it back as much as i could then used a pressure washer.
Try it on the lowest setting first and on a brick that wont be seen. If it causes any major damage to brickwork stick to the scraper and elbow grease.
