I’ve recently bought a house that appears to have had some movement in the loft in the past. I didn’t come up on the survey but has some heavy duty braces added to wooden beams and steels running across the floor (pictures provided).
I am in the process of converting the loft and would like to remove the wood that would have previously been holding up the ceiling (but I believe the steels now have stakes attached to them which mean they are no longer required).
On the off chance that the steaks aren’t as secure as I hope, has anyone ever created a floor level support to prevent ceiling movement and if so, how did you do it?
Thanks
