Removing Old Backer Board And Adding New - What About The Holes?

Hi folks

I am currently removing old tiles and with the backer board to follow. My plan is to get some thicker 50mm XPS multi boards to replace them before retiling.

However, I'm just thinking - What about all the holes which will be left in the brick work by the removed old mechanical fixings?

Do I just leave them on the chance I'll strike lucky and some of the new ones will strike right through? Or should I fix the gaps with repair cement or something so the new fixtures won't potentially blow out?

What's the best solution / product to use here?

If you think it's a problem.
Blow out holes with a can of air.
Use watered down PVA about 4/1. Wood glue will do watered down as it's PVA.
Fill holes with toupret powder filler.

If you think it's a problem...
Thanks for your reply - I've no idea if its a problem tbh, I was just wondering. Do you think it is / have you removed old boards and placed new ones in the same brick work? Just looking for direction really as I appreciate these boards, once fixed, will be supporting the tile weight.

I've seen walls with many holes when paneling was removed but never a problem drilling more.
If you hit another hole just use a bigger plug and longer screw
