What is the best way to remove old floor tiles? I've heard it is possible to use a blowtorch but I'm not sure what to do, or is it better just hammering and chiseling.

Also I've read lots of old floor tiles may contain asbestos, how can I tell if mine do? Do I have to consult an expert?

Thanks.

The idea is to warm up the tiles just enough, so that the glue will "liquify" enough to enable you to lift the tiles with a chisel

I take it we're talking about vinyl tiles here? If you suspect asbestos, get the wife to do it.

And do not forget to put youre asbestos pants on
