Removing Old Tile Adhesive

I have had to lift some tiles to repair an under-floor leak (another story!) and now need to re-lay replacement tiles.

Any suggestions as to how I can remove the old tile adhesive from the underlying concrete please? It seems too soft for a hammer and chisel.

If it's too soft for a hammer and chisel then it probably the wrong stuff.

It should be pretty solid, but if it isn't a wallpaper scraper?
