removing old olives?

15mm copper pipe, can't justify buying a tool. any tips on the best way to get them off without damaging the pipe?

Grip with grips, and rotate/wiggle a lot.
And the grips.

Or saw part way with fine hacksaw, then saw away with a penknife's knife blade until you're through - they pop apart.

Good man, thanks Chris. That's just the sort of thing I was after, new there must be some tried and tested techniques.
 
saw through olive at 45 degree angle till you can insert a small flat bit screwdriver into slot you have cut. twist screwdriver and bobs your uncle
 
Heavy shifter spanner, jaws just clearing the pipe.use like a slide hammer :idea:
