Removing Plumbers' Mait

Any ideas to remove Plumbers' Mait from a wool suit?

I've tried soap, contact cleaner and lighter fluid (and rubbing it with another bit of plumbers' mait).

Nope, tried acetone and petrol too now.

I'm surprised my trousers haven't dissolved though!
