Hi

The bleed screw on radiator partially opened then square top sheared off when I tried to open it further. The screw is directly in the end of a round top steel radiator not in a removable plug.

Any advice on how to remove the remnants without damaging the treads in the radiator?

Remove the whole plug that the bleed screw fits into and replace. That's not always possible though. Depends on the radiator. Can you post a picture?

Drill it out with a small bit, then use a tap and die to rethread it. Or (bit rough this but works) drill it out and put thread tape on a brass screw.
