Hello

I'm not sure this is in the right forum?

I want to remove the mains power from my old shower unit. I've fitted a shower pump etc, so the old mains one is now obsolete.

I suppose I will have to disconnect it from the consumer unit? Is this a simple job?

Any tips/advise will be appreciated

TIA ... Mick

For an experienced person it is simple task but still has risks of injury.

For a DIY person attempting it there are significant risks. Even with the main switch in the consumer unit turned OFF there ARE still live wires inside the Consumer unit.

Then there are the requirements of the building regulations to comply with.

If you feel confident enough to do this,SWITCH OFF THE MAIN ISOLATOR,on your cu then remove cover carefully, undo and remove live wire from cb and trace and remove neutral and earth wires from respective terminals, tuck wires safely out of the way after marking them(you or someone else may need them in the future) make sure all terminal screws are retightened and refit main cover.Remember that the main isolator terminals are still live.
