Renaming my hard drive ?

Hi,
I've had a burn out on my PC hard drive so replaced my c drive 250gb with a 500gb but the pc see it as an H drive ...? all works well but for the updates theres a winnit programme trying to write to the none existent c drive..

How Do i rename my H.drive & call it C.drive?
Also will this cause me any other problems such as programmes not working?

Or do i need to back the lot up & start again ?

In my opinion, not worth trying to take shortcuts. I would back everything up and start again, renaming drives can cause unforseen problems with countless pieces of software which autosave to certain drives. Is more hassle but better in the long run. Unless someone out there knows a way to guarantee all programmes will recognize the new drive!
