Friends of ours in Spain have a UK Renault Scenic RX4 diesel (4WD) and the rear offside (Right) electric window mechanism has stopped working. We took the door apart and found that there is thick spring rod which is driven by the electric motor and pushes the window up and down. Some sort of plastic clip connects the end of the spring rod to the bottom of the glass. I think the mecanism is called worm drive.
All that is broken is the plastic connecting piece. The Renault dealer wants €280 for a complete unit !! We have jammed the window up temporarily.
Has anybody found a method of fixing this ?
(This is not the mechanism that uses a steel cable).
