what mix is best for inside an open brick fireplace for crack /heat resistance? its fairly small -4 bricks wide, 1 (length) deep and 8 high, so any hot coal/sparks would be up close to the render.

the outside fireplace walls are 5,1,1 kiln dried sand, lime, white cement, yellow dye and sbr, and want to keep the same look inside as much as possible.

thanks. b

i think BUFF is the term used on the tin of powder - useful for that sandy look.

A bit of seaweed strewn about and you'd think you're still on holiday

use 5:1 plastering sand and cement.

colouring will quickly become irrelevant once you begin 'using' the fireplace for real.
