I've been thinking about rendering an outside 3m high retaining wall and am concerned that I will be interfering with the walls ability to get rid of moisture from behind it.

Has anyone got any experience of this problem?

Is the wall in good condition or maybe need repointing instead?

Lime mortar will give flexibility to allows walls to breathe and movement without cracking.

the problem is that the wall has been built with an assortment of block and brick and really could do with rendering, is there a lime based render I could use instead of sand+cement?

Thanks
