Afternoon folks,

Some advice would be greatly appreciated please. I've had a couple of windows bricked in and need to render them both up to blend in with the house. Both patches are 1m x 0.5m.....so small.

I'm a fairly competent plasterer but never rendered, but I do know it's a very different beast!

The bricks are new, so no mould etc. It's just a straight forward render, no stones to blend with. Am I right in doing the following:

1) mix 4 to 1 of builders sand and opc? adding a waterproofer (any suggestions on which one). No need to PVA bricks for key.

2) trowel first coat on, then scratch to form key for top coat. Allow to fully dry.

3) wet down first coat, apply second coat with plasticiser. Allow to semi dry, then sponge and float to finish.

Is that about right?

Adam
