We have an ex local authority 1920s semi. House rendered. No cavity wall.

Much of the render has blown & we have penetrating damp (partly a result of ill fitted single glazed windows which are to be replaced).

We are in process of removing all render to front of house which is the most damaged & most exposed to weather. (rural norfolk!)

Many bricks are wet with some cracked with mortar falling out.

We will be able to make good the brickwork but are unsure what mix we should use for the render coats and what depth they should be.

I have spent some time reading various threads (in particular those between jbonding, legs-akimbo & dougalhouse!) and am just as confused -if not more!

Any tips much appreciated.
