I can plaster small areas like 2m by 2m, but never moved onto anything bigger. I'm building a garage and considering rendering it myself. A rendered finish seems more forgiving to small trowel marks etc and I'm tempted to render it myself.

DOes this sound wise or is it as hard as plastering?

Is rendering easier than plastering, er no; to do it preoperly is far more specialised than skimming or even using base plaster. No idea of your personal skill level but considering your plastering experience consists of doing areas around 4 sq/m cutting your “render” teeth on the sort of sq/metreage you talking about will most likely end in tears.

We all had to start somewhere but I don’t think your level of experience will be anywhere near enough, even if you get it to stay up there on the wall it’s likely to be very uneven & look really naff.

It's going onto blockwork. What is mono (webber/krend)?
