Anyone have any tips on rendering onto the steel door frame shown in the picture? I was thinking of screwing expanding metal mesh on to the steel and across the joint onto the blockwork and making a frame from 2x1 timber to give an edge to render up to.
The frame needs to be really secure to the jambs otherwise the slamming of the door will crack the render; perhaps a construction adhesive between frame and block where it is screwed to the block
Or soften the closing with a damped door closer
Alternatively run a decorative line round the render the width of the door frame after its on but before it’s cured, to give a weaker point/channel where any cracking will occur first
