Rendering Options

We are currently building a new home in the central belt of Scotland.
Ideally we wanted a smooth white render finish on the outside as popular with many of the house building companies
However the architect has recommended against this stating its too difficult to get a level smooth finish.
Instead he has proposed a 20mm wet dash render mixed with Blue Circle Snowcrete.
I am not too keen on this finish due to the off white colour and rough texture
Can anyone advise what other options there are which would give us a more modern and smooth finish.
Any thoughts or assistance on this would be appreciated.

go with the flow... or go the opposite way and have a stone effect or brick render look>>>>> decopierre on youtube is facinating and a real altenative. Lime render, breathable and any color.

A lewel smooth finish should be no problem for a compitent builder.

It’s your house, so you can have whatever finish you like.

It may cost a little more for you to get someone in to give you a smooth finish (some building firms are willing to take on a non-smooth rendering job, but won’t take on a smooth render because of the additional skill required). Relative to the cost of any new-build, getting a smooth render job shouldn’t be material.

Don’t listen to your architect on this one - it’s you that’s going to have to see your house everyday, not him or her.
