Hi

I need to render a patch of my wall. It's about 10meters long and 1meter wide.

At the moment the plaster is off to the basic brick again.

[1] Do I need to paint a coat of sealant on the brick first, also allowing the mortar to adhere. There was a substance I saw someone use once that turned blueish when it was exposed to air?

[2] I know I need to first lay a scratch coat then a final coat on top of that. What I would like to know is what is the sand:cement ratio for the scratch coat and the sand:cement ration for the final render?

Thank you in advance to anyone who has can answer my query.
