My girlfriend has bought a small terraced house and the outside was pebble dash. Someone has tried to render over the pebble dash and made a real mess of it. Will this all have to be taken off in order to put new render on the house.

Probably would be best to remove down to brick now . If you try to go over it again you will be out beyond drip checks on cills and downpipes etc. I recommend going down to brick .........be carefull no heavy duty Kangos ie minimum just to chip it off. SBR/cement slurry coat then scratch coat . Another background coat with any required colour to match and dash to finish. Estimate at least £35 per metre incl scaffold some more some less
