I have exposed a terrazzo floor (like little cubes of granite or marble set into fine concrete) in the hall of a 1905 house. It has had carpets and gripper glued to it in the past, and possibly old red-backed lino was laid and has left a deposit, but is in generally nice condition.

What's the way to clean off the glue and polish it up?
